A new entry added to the infamous Google Graveyard https://killedbygoogle.com/

"Google is exiting the domain name registration business and selling to Squarespace for $180 million.
As part of the deal, Squarespace would become the new domain name registrar for the more than 10.1 million domains already registered with Google Domains by Google's customers.
The acquisition would make Squarespace one of the largest domain name registrars in the world, behind only GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Tucows in total number of registered domain names."

They were never a great registrar, but I've used them in the past.
Starting in 2015, Google Domains was in beta for a whopping 7 years and ended their beta in 2022.
Now roughly a year later in 2023, the platform will be sold to Squarespace for $180 million.

This news of acquisition comes a month or so after Google's release of 8 new TLDs.
New TLDs
.dad
.phd
.prof
.esq
.foo
.zip
.mov
.nexus

I'm guessing they didn't make enough money from it and figured they'd make it up by selling to squarespace lol.

If you got any domains sitting on domains.google.com, it's probably a good time to swap registrars
